Rahul Gandhi Pays Last Respects to Veteran Congress Leader Mohsina Kidwai

Rahul Gandhi Pays Tribute to Mohsina Kidwai

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Wednesday paid his last respects to senior Congress leader Mohsina Kidwai, who passed away earlier in the day at the age of 94.

Rahul Gandhi attended the last rites and offered condolences to the bereaved family, remembering Kidwai as a dedicated leader whose life was rooted in public service. Several political figures and party members also gathered at her residence in Noida to pay tribute.

Among those present were Samajwadi Party leader Mohibbullah Nadvi and senior Congress leader Anand Sharma, who joined in mourning the loss of one of the Congress party’s most respected veterans.

Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi expressed deep sorrow over her demise, describing it as “extremely heartbreaking.” In a message shared on X, he said Mohsina Kidwai’s long and committed service to the Congress party set an example for generations to follow.

“She was a senior and loyal leader of the Congress Party, and her life was an example of public service. With her simplicity, gentleness, and dignified political success, she inspired several generations of women in the country,” Gandhi said.

Congress leaders across the spectrum remembered Kidwai for her wisdom, compassion, and strong grassroots connect. Former Union Minister Salman Khurshid noted that her passing marked the end of an era for the party.

“It feels like an entire era has ended with her. Matching the stature she had and the services she rendered will be very difficult,” Khurshid told reporters.

Mohsina Kidwai had a long and distinguished political career, maintaining close ties with the Nehru-Gandhi family. She won her first election during the tenure of Jawaharlal Nehru and went on to serve as a Union Minister, holding several key organisational roles within the Congress party over the decades.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and party leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also paid heartfelt tributes, highlighting her lifelong commitment to the party and her contribution to Indian politics.

Kidwai’s legacy is widely seen as one of dedication, humility, and service — values that earned her respect across party lines and generations.
